Born in 1958, James “Jimmy” Geils passed away at the age of 65. In addition to his service to the community and park district as a commissioner, he is remembered for following in his great grandfather, grandfather and father’s footsteps in providing funeral services dedicated to helping families in their time of need.
Geils was appointed to the Bensenville Park District Board of Commissioners in May 2013 and was elected to the board in 2015. In his capacity as commissioner, he served as treasurer from May 2013 to May 2016 and then as secretary from June 2016 until May 2021.
A celebration of his life is planned from noon to 5 p.m., with a small service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, at Salt Creek Golf Club, 1051 N. Prospect Ave., Wood Dale.
