Our History

The Bensenville Park District has been in existence since August 27, 1960. It began with one swimming pool, six neighborhood parks and a Locomotive which was donated from the Bensenville Village Board of Trustees.

The Park District purchased the White Pines Golf Course in 1967 and in 1976 renovated it. The existing club house that was built in 1979 and hosts a banquet facility, bar and grill, and admin offices.

In 1985, the Bensenville Water Park opened. The water park was complete with a 12.5-foot dive well featuring two one-meter boards and a three-meter high dive, a water slide, wading pool with animal sprinklers, concession stand, sand volleyball court and locker room facilities. Today, the water park is adjacent to the new 2,527 square foot splash pad that was completed for community use in the 2013 pool season.

The Deer Grove Leisure Center was built in 1989. The Leisure Center has a state-of-the-art weight room, a full-size gymnasium, an indoor track, three racquetball courts and the location of many programs and events offered by the Park District. The Park District’s administrative offices are located at the Deer Grove Leisure Center. Today the Park District has 14 parks totaling 65.5 acres, not including White Pines Golf Club & Banquets.
